CUPRONE – The systemic copper
Cuprone is a composition based on an organic complex of copper and an excellent complexing agent such as gluconic acid derived from the enzymatic fermentation of glucose. Gluconic acid and its ionic form, such as gluconate, are widely used in pharmaceutical preparations because of their compatibility with biological fluids.

THE ROLE OF THE COPPER IN THE PLANT
Copper is an essential element for plants. Copper and the other nutrients (especially trace elements) are involved in many processes. It is an important component of several proteins involved in photosynthesis, respiration and lig- nification. Enzyme proteins activity decreases when there is a copper deficiency.
In the case of the photosynthetic process, if there is a reduction in the rate of plastocyanin (the copper-containing protein), the transport of electrons and the CO2 fixation will be negati- vely affected.
The CO2 fixation produces a decrease of pho- tosynthates. Also, copper has great importance in the process of lignin formation, which acts as a physical barrier to the entry of pathogenic organisms. Cuprone is also involved in the processes leading to the production of phytoa- lexins, which are synthesized plant substances to defend themselves from attack by fungi and other organisms.
The copper ion in any form, mono or divalent, works in the control of pests and diseases. This is the reason because of the copper fungicides are so effective in combating this problem. Copper is a powerful toxic that acts against fungi and some bacteria. This property gives the farmer an effective weapon to fight against the pathogenic micro-organisms.
SYSTEMIC COPPER ADVANTAGES
- Copper is completely soluble, so it can be used in drip irrigation sys- tems, which is very interesting for horticultural crops.
- It does not produce spots on the leaf surface, because it is necessary a smaller amount of copper for each application.
- There is no term safety.
- It is subject to implementing pre- ventive.
- No washing losses in case of rain.
MODE AND DOSAGE OF USE
Foliar treatment 2-3 L / Ha Localized irrigation 5 l / ha
Cuprone has a systemic action that can be applied trough foliar way and drip irrigation.
